Abstract:
Risk management is a generic term for activities to predict, prevent, and handle natural disasters, and to organise and co-ordinate the institutions involved. EUROSPACE GmbH has performed several risk management studies such as for ESA as a sub-contractor of Alcatel with emphasis on earthquakes and nuclear disasters. In general risk management activities could be optimised by an increased use of already existing and future space systems and services in the fields of Earth observation, telecommunication, and navigation. An important issue to be considered when implementing a risk management infrastructure is its easy and save operation for all users.
