Abstract:
The pollution of air, water and soil with radio-active materials is a man-made hazard.

This paper offers early warning systems, which register contamination of air, water and soil with radioactive materials from uranium industry in Bulgaria. Most of the examples are from the largest uranium deposit at Buchovo Town, Sofia district. Technical systems for identification and monitoring the extent of contamination hazard are determined. They result in prediction and warning of radioactive pollution. For monitoring of the air special sensors are installed for cumulative measurement of accepted dose radiation. For continuous control of polluted water special observational boreholes have been constructed, equipped with piesometers. Soil polluted regions with radioactive materials are continuous controlled with dosemeters. The experimental data are processed.
